GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

I’m not a fan of those emails that state “send this email to ten people”. But I got this email today and thought at the very least I should post it for your consideration. I’m not saying it is a good or bad idea, just interesting. Do with it what you feel is appropiate.

GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It’s worth your consideration.

Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by THIS summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the “don’t buy gas on a certain day” campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn’t continue to “hurt” ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you’re probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.50 is super cheap.  Me too! It is currently $3.49 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $2.50 - $2.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place…. not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can’t just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here’s the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON’T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers.  It’s really simple to do! Now, don’t wimp out at this point…. keep reading and I’ll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people.

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least ten more (30 x 10 =3D 300) … and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =3D 3,000)…and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it…..

THREE >>>>HUNDRED MILLION >>>>PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That’s all. (If you don’t understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people…. Well, let’s face it, you just aren’t a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I’ll bet you didn’t think you and I had that much potential, did you? Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO AN ACCEPTABLE  RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.

THIS CAN REALLY WORK

Common Job Interview Questions

I’ve just updated a new page http://jpcservicesinc.com/JobInterviewQuestions.html

Here I have put a list of common job interview questions along with answers. Answers is probably the wrong term, more like suggestions because every answer should be customized to best fit you. What I have done is listed questions that interviewers commonly ask and why they ask them. This will put you in the best position to answer them and land the job you are interviewing for.

I was really motivated to finish this page the past week because I am actively interviewing people at my organization for a position. I have been really surprised how horrible people are at interviewing and answering very common questions. Interviewing is a skill that needs to be learned and hopefully http://jpcservicesinc.com/JobInterviewQuestions.html will be useful to people.

For those looking to work from home…

I just read about this site in a magazine tonight. Woman’s World - March 13, 2007, page 21.

The article says one of the best websites for finding real, money-making opportunities is www.volition.com.

Click on “Get Paid” for a list of companies that pay you to work at home. Or use this direct link: http://www.volition.com/getpaid.html

In my opinion get paid to surf and read emails do not pay very well and are a complete waste of time. The other information on the site looks pretty valuable.

I am not directly endorsing this site. It does initially look like it has some googd info. Worth a look.

Common Web Design Mistakes

Are people coming to your website to leave within 30 seconds? This is a pretty obvious sign that it may be time to reconsider your design. Your website is your “baby”, which often makes it hard to see obvious mistakes.

Below are some of the most common web design mistakes:

Bad Choice of Color Palette:  Keep your backgrounds simple. White or light colors usually work best. Your background should not compete with the content of the page for the user’s attention. If you would like to use a background picture, select a picture that uses muted colors or format your picture as a watermark. Select text colors which will contrast well with the background picture

Poor Web Site Copy: People do not “read” websites, they “scan” them. The top of the page and first paragraph should clearly indicate the purpose of your web site. You are not getting paid by the word. Your copy should be clear and directly to the point.

Misspelled Words: Every computer comes with spell check for free, use it. Words that are spelled incorrectly make your website look amateurish. Did I spell that right? Yes I did. What would your initial impression be if I didn’t?

Constantly Running Animations: This can be distracting when used excessively. There should be no more than one animated object in your view at any time. Also in this category are excessive, large, flashing & obnoxious advertisements.

Complicated Navigation – Keep your navigation simple by creating clear links on all web pages. This helps your visitors find the information they are looking for easily. If a person constantly experiences broken links and error pages they will click elsewhere. Put some thought into how you want your visitors to navigate through your site. Ever notice that the milk in your local supermarket is in the back of the store? Why do you think that is?

Outdated Information: Continually update and disregard outdated information. If there is still a page discussing who is going to win the 2004 presidential election, chances are you are going to lose a visitor that will NEVER return.

To sum up, here are some questions you need to ask yourself:

Who is my target audience?

What do I offer my visitors?

How easy is it for them to find the information they are looking for?

What am I trying to achieve with my website?

What distinguishes me from other sites?

A Real Way to Make Money Posting on a Discussion Board FREE

I wanted to hold off actively discussing this money making route until I saw a real income flow from it personally. It’s been over a month and I can definitely say mylot.com is legitimate and does pay. But most importantly any one can make a couple of bucks doing it. You don’t need to refer a million people to make $5 but on the same note you WILL NOT get rich either. So what is mylot.com ?

It’s basically a discussion board. Any topic you want. They pay each and every member of myLot based on their level and quality of activity. All you need to do is sign up for a myLot account absolutely free and they do the rest.

The idea is pretty simple - if you contribute to the myLot Community - whether it is by posting a new discussion, responding to a current discussion, uploading pictures, or referring friends, you earn money. Their goal is to provide internet users a place to earn money using the web on a day to day basis and provide access to information they need.

If you do about 5 “quality” posts a day either starting your own discussion or responding to someone else’s you can realistically make between $10 to $15 a month. I know what you’re thinking. “WOW Dave your really breaking the bank there with mylot“. Your right I’m NOT. But my view is, I go to very specific forums and give my opinions all day long and get zero dollars. At least here I get some payment for me giving them quality content so they can sell advertising space.

This is where it gets interesting. I’m now making about $20 a week and growing. Know you may be thinking, “OK, here’s the catch”. Mylot also pays you for your referrals. Not a one time fee for them signing up but based on there activity.

Let me illustrate:

You refer 10 people to mylot and all of them do zero posts. You make absolutely ZERO dollars for referring them. Now on the other hand you refer 2 people and they are active, starting and replying to discussions left and right. You make a percentage of what they make off of their postings.

Now you might be thinking, “To make money $20 a week I have to refer hundreds of people”. I have only 17 referrals right now and make about 4 dollars a day from there postings. Like I said a majority of them are very active. Remember if you refer 100 people and none of them post you make zero dollars.

Another thing I like about mylot is that any referral you get automatically goes on to your friends list helping to build a community and to be able to communicate with them. You can reply to there posts helping out their earnings and vice versa.

Finally, I really like mylot because it’s all about “quality” and not “quantity”. Someone who just starts a hundred discussions that nobody responds to and gives two word posts they will earn less then someone who does significantly fewer ”quality” posts.

That’s why I recommend mylot . Give it a shot and let me know your opinion. You got nothing to lose because it is absolutely FREE to join and participate in. NO Catch!

Thanks,

Dave Clemen

Real way to make money submitting articles

Hey, I’ve come out of my blogging retirement because a found a really great absolutely FREE way to make a couple of extra bucks with some of the articles I have written.

This place is ABSOLUTELY FREE. No catch what so ever. I submitted six articles for publication and got paid for three so far. I’ve been a member for two weeks and they pay very quickly by paypal. I’ve made $18 so far. I know I’m not breaking the bank but with the hundreds of articles I have written, I’m starting to see this as a decent stream of income off of work that I’ve already done.

So if your a writer you got nothing to lose. And once again it costs you absolutely nothing. They pay anywhere from $3 to $20 an article if accepted. Once again not breaking the bank but it is real. Check it out! I would also like any feedback regarding what you guys think. The link is below.

Thanks -Dave

Integrating Keywords into Website Copy

‘Website Copy’ is the text on the site. The website copy should back up
the keywords
you are trying to target on this site. A few ‘rules of thumb’ for
integrating
keywords into your website’s copy:
- Try to stick to one or two keywords per page, perhaps up to four if
they are related.
- Repeat the keyword roughly once per paragraph.
- Put the keyword at the start of your title, description and keyword
tag.
- Put your keyword as close to the start of the text as possible.
- Name your page the same as your keyword; for example
“search-engine-optimization.html”
- Name your site after your major keyword; for example
www.search-engine-optimization.com
- Put in original content.

Remember your website copy should be written for your visitors first
and foremost,
by targeting a page per keyword you are ensuring the page is focused on
the keyword without
being considered spam.

Now a few search engine don’ts:
- Don’t stuff your keyword tag with unrelated keywords, the search
engines know your
page is not about ebay, free music downloads, etc because the text
on the page doesn’t
   back it up.
- Don’t keyword stuff hidden parts of the page - image ‘alt’ tags,
comments, etc.
- Don’t keyword stuff, period - don’t repeat the same keywords
multiple times in a row
   anywhere on the page.
- Don’t use page generation tools - the search engines know them all
and can tell which
pages are created by a tool and which manually.
- Don’t duplicate content either within the same site or across
multiple sites.
- Don’t hide text by using white text on a white background, small
fonts. Even if its
unrelated to your keyword the search engines will see hidden text
and blacklist your site!

Any of these can get your site banned, and once banned its extremely
difficult to get your
site back in the search engine results.
